What Does this thyroid Test Result Mean?

Hi.. i m jyothi female 27 yrs old.from past few months i am gaining weight and suffering with bone pains.. as per dr suggestion i have taken thyroid test and results are as follows: TT3 87,TT4 8.2 and TSH 1.58. But it says suggesting thyronormalcy. Pls suggest.. though i have all in normal rnge i still have chances of thyroid? I m worried wht if i cant reduce weight.

Hi Jyothi, your thyroid reports are OK. If you had even the slightest deficiency of thyroid hormones your TSH would have been raised . In hypothyroidism usually the TSH begins to rise before the T3 and T4 decreases. Your weight gain may not be related to thyroid problems. You may get a random blood sugar test, urine routine, LFT, blood Urea nitrogen, creatinine and cortisol tests done for further evaluation. How rapid is your weight gain. You may document your current weight and keep a food diary of food consumed along with physical activity too. You may also include more aerobic exercises balanced with high fiber and low glycemic index food. You may consult websites such as webMD for guidance in nutrition for weight loss. What is important is that if medical illness is excluded , you have to keep a high level of motivation for gradual weight loss. Weight loss should be gradual over a period of time.
